AFTER LEADING RACE TWO IN SPA FRANCORCHAMPS, BORKOVIC GOT HIT FROM BEHIND AND SPUN OFF THE TRACK

The best Serbian race car driver Dusan Borkovic added 7 points from race one of TCR Europe to his championship score this weekend at Spa Francorchamps. Driver of Target Competition Team in his Hyundai i30N TCR scored 10th position in Saturday’s qualifying giving him a pole position for race two of TCR Europe in Spa Francorchamps. Borkovic had a perfect start, fought off the pressure of a much lighter and faster cars behind him. When Borkovic started to secure his first place as he started to make a gap, the safety car was deployed. In the first lap after the safety car Briche overtook Dusan and J. Clairet on the straight, then J. Clairet hit Dusan from behind and spun him off the track.

“I am very disappointed. I had a perfect start, I was focused and utilized my Hyundai to it’s maximum considering that we were the heaviest by far. When I saw the safety car on the track I knew it was going to be tough considering the weight and how slow we were on these long straights. Briche passed me at the end of the long straight and J. Clairet hit me from behind at around 250km/h and sent me off the track. I have nothing to say, you saw it all. Very unsafe and unsportsmanlike driving from him and many others. I was lucky that I didn’t flip or got hit from by other drivers. If i had finished the race, i would have a chance at the top of the championship ladder. With this kind of driving standards and penalty that i had in Hockenheim, I am not sure that I have a standing chance. I will of course give my best and I want to thank all my sponsors, my team and fans for all their support”, said Borkovic.

Next two races of TCR Europe will be held in Austria at Redbull Ring July 13/14th.
