HISTORIC VICTORY FOR BORKOVIC IN BAHRAIN Featured

The best Serbian race car driver triumphed for the first time in his second TCR International season and scored 25 points.

The best Serbian race car driver Dusan Borkovic made history today for Serbian motosport. Borkovic took his first TCR International victory.

He also scored 25 new points in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta #62. With the points from the 4th place in the first race yesterday Dusan scored 37 points in total this weekend.

Borković started from the 2nd position in race 2 behind Ferenc Ficza. Attila Tassi was behind Borkovic and managed to overtake him at the start but Borkovic passed both Ficza and tassi for the first place in T2. After passing them Borkovic made a gap while his competitors were fighting for the second position. There was no doubt for a triumph and Borkovic managed to save his position till the end of the race. James Nash finished in the 2nd place and Hugo Valente in the 3rd.

"This was a great weekend for me. I am happy to have taken my first TCR victory on Easter. After qualifying and race 1 I knew I can be successful on this track. Starting position in race 2 gave me a lot of hope. Although I didn't start great I knew I had to overtake both Hungarian drivers as soon as possible to win this race. I am very excited to be the first Serb to have won in such a huge championship as TCR. I will do my best to stay at this level till the end of the season. I would like to thank my fans, sponsors, my team and all my countrymen. And I wish Happy Easter to all the fans in Serbia and around the world.", Borković said after the second race.

After two TCR International weekends Borković is on the 2nd place in overall standings with 51 points.

Dusan made his country proud on Easter day. National anthem of Serbia was played on Sakhir circuit a few hours before Formula 1 race. Next racing weekend is in Belgium on Spa Francorchamps circuit on 5th and 6th of May where Borkovic will have 30 kg success balast.
