UNSPORTS LIKE MOVE BY VERNAY LEFT SERBIAN CHAMPION WITHOUT POINTS Featured

The best Serbian race car driver Dušan Borković after a series of misfortunes finishes the fourth TCR weekend in Imola without points. After a unsportsmanlike conduct by Vernay and crashing Dusan’s car in the 8th lap trying to pass him, stopped Dusan to score new points. In this crash Borkovic’s car was too damaged and there was not enough time to fix everything in only 15 min repair time.

All the drives in Imola were held today. Mechanical failure on the rear left wheel disabled Dusan’s car in free practice 1 and he managed to do only one lap in free practice 2 after B3 racing fixed the problem. Soon after that in qualifying session Borkovic got through to qualifying 2 where he made the 4th time which got deleted for exceeding track limits. Serbian champion made the 5th best time after that, but stewards deleted this time as well for the same reason. Borkovic’s team made a complaint with video proof but it was denied. B3 racing driver started both races from 12th position due to time deletion.

In a very exciting first race Serbian champion with a briliant driving got to the 6th position very quickly from 12th and after passing Vernay was 5th. But then in the 11th lap French driver pushed Borkovic out of the track crashing him at the speed of 200km/h. There is still no information if Vernay is going to be penalised but it doesn’t change the fact that Borkovic was left without points and with a car too damaged for the second race.

„I am very dissapointed with what happened in Imola. First deleted times in qualifying after which I considered not continuing for the rest of the day. After that Vernay acted very  unsportsmanlike throughout the whole race 1 and was cuting in every corner which enabled him to catch up with me faster. At the end he hit me a few times until he spun me out of the track completely although there was enough space for him to move and fight fair. In the crash my car got damaged too much to be fixed for race 2. I am very dissapointed that I didn't score new points this weekend. I am constantly in top 5 fastest drivers in the championship, and now we have to focuse and fight through all other challeneges to get up the score board.“- Borković said.

Serbian champion is in 10th place in overall standings with 47 points.

Next rounds are on Salzburgring on 5th of June.
